[Borderline Series]

Border Translations- Borderline Translations relates a story about being in a crowd where one does not speak the same language. Border Maps- Borderline Maps asks that people share their stories about how they came to this country, including a map where they can record where they entered.

Borderline Statements- in this interactive piece the user/viewer is presented with short texts about immigration, and are asked to choose from a series of portraits who they think the speaker is. They are also asked to disclose what country they are from and what gender they are. The piece archives and juxtaposes the various responses from the participants as a collective "self-portrait." The user is led to believe that the statements that they have provided are actually a kind of portrait of themselves. Other responses can be scrolled through, suggesting a kind of virtual conversation: a conversation of each persons interpretation.
